Teaching Tip: Parts of Speech Wheel

This is a great, easy group activity for reviewing the parts of speech.

1. Draw a large circle on a large piece of card board.
2. Break the circle up into 8 equal sections with a marker.
3. Write the names of the 8 parts of speech in each section.
4. Place a spinner in the middle of the circle.

For a game spinner stop by your local craft shop or take them off of old board games. Pick a long reading passage and have students travel through the reading identifying the next part of speech that appears on the spinner, as you spin it.

Jokes You Can Tell in Class

The kindergarten class had settled down to its coloring books. Steve came up to the teacher's desk and said, "Miss Merc, I ain't got no crayons."

"Steve," Miss Merc said, "you mean, "I don't have any crayons. You don't have any crayons. We don't have any crayons. They don't have any crayons. Do you see what I'm getting at?"

"Not really," Steve said, "What happened to all them crayons?"
