A Great Teaching Tip: Reading And Remembering

When your class is reading a book with several characters have them create a grid to help them remember the characters. Give them one index card for each character in the book and have them tape them inside a manila folder. They can write the name of each character on a card and list all the main characteristics and relationships from the book. The student can use the grid for reference whenever they get confused.

Our Reading Comprehension section has many resources to help you with reading and remembering.

Members also have full access to over 1,500 reading worksheets and lessons.

You will also find a complete set of character mapping organizers in our graphic organizer section as well as an additional 1,150+ graphic organizers to help you along.

Jokes You Can Tell in Class

A friend of mine was in the hospital awaiting the arrival of her first child. When I telephoned the hospital to see if the baby had arrived, the nurse said it had.

I asked if it was a boy or girl and was told that it was against hospital policy to give this information over the phone.

"Fine," I said. "I can understand that. But can you tell me what she didn't have?"

"It wasn't a boy," came the reply.
