Teaching Tip: A Math Game For All Subjects

Help students practice their math facts by using the card game 24. Divide the class into teams and ask them what level card they want. The higher the level, the more points they can earn but the harder the problem. Write the numbers from the card on the whiteboard. The first team to be able to solve the problem gets the points. (24 is a math game where the students are given 4 numbers and they have to use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to make the numbers equal 24.)

You can adapt this to any grade level. You can use this for any quick response questions in just about any subject area.

Jokes You Can Tell in Class

I tried a new recipe for cornbread muffins using fresh corn. After tasting one, my seven-year-old son made no comment.

"Honey," I asked, "did you notice anything different about my muffins?"

"Yeah, Mom," he replied. "They're not burned."
