Teaching Tip: Reinforce Spelling In Your Class
By: Teachnology Staff

1. Post all new spelling and/or vocabulary words.
2. Have students "Say" the word, "Spell" the word out loud, then "Write" the word. Finally have students "Draw" a picture of something that represents the word.
3. Have students use the words in a story.
4. Present the words to students in chunks. For example the word together. Present it in three chunks. To-Get-Her.
5. Have students keep a personal spelling journal.
Any words they have trouble with go in the journal.
6. Create a "Words I Can't Spell" rule. Give students set of directions to follow.
7. Use graphic organizers to relate the words to students.
8. Have students use phonetic rules.
9. Inform parents and guardians of the words by sending home a word list.
