Teaching Tip: Watch Them Grow!
By: Kelly, Elementary Teacher

Every spring I have my students grow small plants in my classroom. I provide students with all the needed materials (seeds, soil, cups or pots, etc.). We have a contest to see which group of students can grow the largest plant. I give students 15 minutes at the beginning and end of the school day to care for their plants.

I usually start this activity 30 days prior to starting my plant unit as a discovery lesson. It really helps to engage them in the unit.

One thing that I have learned is to make sure to schedule this activity when you do not have long breaks off from school.

What Are Teachers Saying About TeAchnology?

Now that we're at the tail end of March and working towards the end of the school year, we just want to point out a few resources that we have that many teachers find invaluable at this time of year. Graphic Organizers, Teacher Rubrics, Teacher Printables are some key areas for those last few months. Also our Ultimate Study Skills Guide is impressing many teachers.

Look at what Cheri Miller had to say about our End of School Year Series: "Thank you so much. Your Series helped me really calmed down those last crazy weeks of school. It really helped me organize myself, students, and even parents."
