Teaching Tip: Summer Student Postcards
By: Teachnology Staff

Create a picture postcard to send to your students before the first day of school. Have someone take a picture of you wearing the same outfit you will wear on the first day of school, include something unusual that will be easy for the students to identify (a silly hat or brightly colored tie). This will make it easy for them to pick you out of a crowd of adults when they arrive at school and during the day.

This Week in History

1775: United Colonies change name to United States.

0622: Religion of Islam was founded.

"Education is the guardian genius of democracy. It is the only dictator that free men recognize, and the only ruler that free men require."

Jokes You Can Tell in Class

A rookie pitcher was struggling at the mound, so the catcher walked out to have a talk with him.

"I've figured out your problem," he told the young southpaw. "You always seem to lose control at the same point in every game."

"When is that?" asked the rookie.

"Right after the National Anthem."
